From the first meeting in 1993 in Grenoble (France), to the last meeting in 2019 in Sion (Switzerland), the “Alpine Workshop” brings together geoscientists doing research or simply being interested in the structure and evolution of the Alps.
The main attribute of this meeting is a friendly, unofficial atmosphere, which promotes the exchange of new ideas about tectonics, structure, stratigraphy, and metamorphic evolution of the Alps and the adjacent Alpine-type orogens. Geoscientists from different disciplines and of different views are welcome to present their ideas. In addition to oral and poster presentations, two longer multi-day field excursions will be offered before and after the meeting, as well as several day trips in the vicinity of Ljubljana. The field trips will take you to some of the most beautiful areas in the diverse Slovenian landscape.
Friendly atmosphere and constructive discussions within a relatively small group of participants have been the main attributes of the Alpine Workshop meetings so far. We will do our best to keep to this tradition and to offer you the best of Slovenian hospitality. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you soon in Ljubljana.
