Event Information
Atmospheric teleconnections play a key role in understanding climate
variability over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. This section is designed to investigate the role of atmospheric teleconnections on global and regional climate variability and predictability.
Several major topic areas will be considered:
1) Decadal variability of atmospheric teleconnections as derived from observational data, high resolution proxy data and long-term model simulations
2) The role of atmospheric teleconnections in climate predictability at regional or global scales
3) Nonlinear aspects of atmospheric teleconnections, including the asymmetry of tropical-extratropical teleconnections. Contributions related to weather regimes are also welcome
4) Theoretical advances in understanding the atmospheric teleconnections
5) New statistical methods to investigate the atmospheric teleconnections
The goal of this session is to bring together people from various domains of climate research to debate practical and theoretical aspects of atmospheric teleconnections and their role in climate variability and predictability.
