Information - OS16 Variations in the Atlantic MOC - Causes and Consequences, Models and Observations
Event Information
The session will provide an overview on the status of field studies and modelling efforts in the Atlantic Ocean which aim to determine key processes and key areas to diagnose the present status of the meridional overturning circulation and its variability. This includes studies of the large scale circulation pattern and their forcings, water mass transformations in the Northern and Southern parts of the Atlantic and the spreading of newly formed water masses in the Atlantic. Emphasis is given on large scale decadal to centennial variations and their potential to affect regional conditions.
