Information - SSP8 Eurostrataform and Promess : Strata formation across European continental margins

During the last 3 years, a huge amount of new in situ measurements, high-resolution geophysical and borehole data have been collected across targeted areas of European continental margins, within the EC-funded Eurostrataform and Promess 1 programmes. North American partners were able to join the project through the support of the US Office of Naval Research. In parallel to field work, numerical models that predict various sedimentary processes and stratal architectures have been implemented.
The aim of this session is to bring together specialists with different backgrounds, in order to improve our cross-disciplinary understanding of the processes that control the formation and preservation of strata across continental margins at different time-scales, from extreme events such as major floods or down-slope cascading, up to those sequences linked to glacio-eustatic cycles. Scientists working on similar topics on other continental margins are welcome.
