Information - SSP26 Cenozoic basin evolution and uplift of the Eastern Alps and the Pannonian basin (co-listed in TS)
Event Information
The Cenozoic, especially the Neogene, constitutes the final stage of
development of the Eastern Alps, and crustal deformation was synchronous to
the formation and filling of sedimentary basins. Exhumation/uplift of rocks
and climatic feedbacks influenced not only Neogene basin fills but also
biota in the Paratethys and the Mediterranean. Contributions to Cenozoic
basin formation, source terrain evolution, sedimentology and paleontology of
basin fills, and the interplay of exhumation, uplift, erosion and deposition
are highly welcome.
