Information - TS7.7 Alpine Geology: Information and inspiration from the best studied orogen of the world

Event Information
The Alps are probably the best-known orogen of the world. After a more than a century-long history of investigation, they are still a source of information and inspiration. By proposing a session on Alpine geology we therefore explicitly choose to highlight regional aspects. This session is particularly stimulating because of its intrinsic multidisciplinary character. We also firmly believe that only a thorough understanding of the regional geology can provide highly needed constraints to increasingly complex quantitative models.
We call for contributions from the widest possible range of disciplines reporting on original and stimulating studies on the Alps, their history and their present. In this way, the participants will certainly come across unexpected methods and studies. Thereby they fulfill the primary goal of a large meeting such as the EGU.
