Information - CL045 Earth System Modelling: Strategies and Software

Event Information
This session is dedicated to the development and use of
software for earth system models. This includes attempts to
standardize physical interfaces in order to facilitate the
exchange of data between any two or more climate model
components as well as software solutions to support coupling
techniques.

Particular topics we intend to address are

scientific reports on the usefulness of coupling
infrastructures

- ensemble runs
- multi model ensembles
- regionalisation

coupling software and coupling strategies

- coupling algorithms
- coupling interfaces
- coupling of regional and global models
- nesting
- interpolation techniques

strategies and tools for pre- and postprocessing

- online and offline data visualisation
- compile and runtime environments

but other contributions dealing with more general aspects of
earth system modeling are as welcome.

We therefore would like to provide a platform for people
working in but not limited to projects like

- GFDL Flexible Modeling System (FMS)
- UK MetOffice Unified Model (UM)
- UK MetOffice Flexible Unified Model Environment (FLUME)
- Community Climate System Model (CCSM)
- PRISM (Program for Integrated Earth System Models)
- ESMF (Earth System Modeling Framework)
