Information - OS7 Ocean Carbon Source and Sink Assessments (co-listed in BG)
Event Information
This session will highlight progress towards assessing ocean carbon sources and sinks over the time frame of plus/minus 200 years either side of the present day. Of especial interest is our ability to quantify global and regional sources and sinks of anthropogenic carbon using both obervations and models. New modelling and observational approaches aimed at characteristing present-day air-sea fluxes of CO2 will also be presented. The session covers content relative to Themes 1 and 2 of the European Integrated Project CarboOcean. Namely: 1. North Atlantic and Southern Ocean CO2 air-sea exchange on a seasonal-to-interannual scale; and 2. Detection of decadal-to-centennial Atlantic and Southern Ocean carbon inventory changes. However contributions are welcome that address other regions and the global scale.
