Information - SSS2 Soil microfabrics and physical behaviour (co-listed in BG, GM & HS)
Event Information
This session deals with the application of micromorphology to explain physical
properties of soils, mostly related to the soil pore system and the fluid/solid
soil interphase. Hydrological characteristics, compactness, sealing and
crusting, hardsetting or erosion risks are some of the processes or phenomena
that can be studied if the direct observations of thin sections are quantified
and the topology of the soil pore system is defined. The soil physicists are
encouraged to reformulate their models in order to keep them close to the
micromorphologic interpretation of the pore system.
