Göttingen is situated in the southernmost part of Lower Saxony in the geographical centre of Germany, thus, it is easily accessible by car (via the motorway A7 and the federal roads B3 and B27) or by train and airplane. There are several direct train connections to Hamburg, Hanover, Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.
The second nearest airports are Frankfurt/Main and Hamburg, from there you can reach Göttingen within 2 hours. Both airports have regular train connections requiring a transfer at the respective cities’ central train stations to Göttingen, Frankfurt Airport also has direct train connections to Göttingen.
Flying to Frankfurt Airport is the most convenient way for you to reach Göttingen.

Göttingen train station is located in the proximity of the city centre. Most of the suggested hotels can be reached by foot (see map). See the accommodation site for more information about Hotels and guest houses.
Leave the interstate A7 at exit 72 "Göttingen Nord"; towards "Stadtmitte/Weende". Stay on the B3/27 for approximately 4 kilometres until you reach the intersection B27 / "Hannoversche Straße".

Exit the train station in the direction of the city centre. Cross the square in the direction of the Bus Terminal, on the far side of which you can cross Berliner Straße at the pedestrian crossing with traffic lights. Walk straight on along Goethe Allee (merges into Prinzenstraße). The Historical Building is located at the corner of Prinzenstraße and Papendiek, on the banks of the Leinekanal.
Leave the motorway A 7 at the Göttingen exit, and take the direct route: Kasseler Landstraße - Groner Landstraße - Groner-Tor-Straße in the direction city centre. You can park your car in the multi-storey car park Groner-Tor-Straße. Cross the Papendiek on foot. You will see the Lichtenberghof to your right. Here you will find an entrance to the Historical Building; a second entrance is located on Prinzenstraße.
