Information - ERE6 Integrated assessment of energy options and risk assessment methodologies (co-listed in CL)

Event Information
This session is devoted to assessment methodologies for decision under economic interest, geophysical resources and boundary conditions, in the light of risk and uncertainty. Typically, the session strives at a comparison of Integrated Assessment model results as well as methodologies to assess potential side-effects of options which are not captured by modelling enterprises. In particular, systematic attempts to evaluate portfolios of energy resources under cost and risk aspects are invited. This session will strive for an optimal mix of energy options on a centennial scale under the threat of global warming. Furthermore, contributions on economical or political instruments on how to implement the so derived solutions are invited. We also welcome overview talks on centennial-scale climate threats directly impacting decision-making. Finally, contributions that are not directly related to energy and global warming but otherwise highlight methodologies for assessing environmental risks are addressed. This would include environmental transport processes of potentially harmful substances.

This session shall contribute to a focus within the ERE division that
links the energy issue to geophysical resources and that also attempts
to investigate its causal relations to global change. Options to
harmonise energy demand and climate stabilisation shall be assessed in
the light of risk and uncertainty.
