Information - AS1.08 The quasi-biennial oscillation and its role in the climate system (co-listed in CL)
Event Information
This session is open to observational and modelling studies of the
quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO), including the observed structure and
evolution of the QBO, the forcing of the QBO by vertically propagating
waves, the interaction with the Brewer-Dobson circulation, the effects
on transport, mixing and chemistry in the middle atmosphere, the effects
on the polar vortices including the interaction with 11-year solar cycle
effects, the coupling to the stratopause semiannual oscillation and
potential feedbacks to the tropical troposphere.
