Information - AC09 Remote sensing in climatology

Event Information
Remote Sensing in climatology is still a new field for a number of traditional climatologists. Yet, several projects and programs have already demonstrated the power and benefits of satellite based climate data records (CDRs). The session aims at providing an overview on the manigfold of activities using Remote Sensing data for the monitoring and analysis of climate change, variability and trends, both on a regional and global scale.
The close relationship between climate monitoring and active protection against climate change, e.g. by using satellite based CDRs for the efficient planning of renewable energy system can be also addressed.
