Information - TS1.2 From stress field evaluation to crustal rheology characterization (co-listed in MPRG)
Event Information
Numerous efforts have been, and are still, devoted to evaluating present and past stress fields at very diverse scales, from microscopic investigations on crystal twinning, to borehole observations, to seismic investigations on seismic anisotropy or on focal mechanisms. These data are used to construct local stress fields, vertical stress profiles or regional maps that provide crucial constraints on rheological characteristics of crustal material, at wide spatial and temporal scales. The objective of this session is to discuss methods of stress data evaluation and integration. Presentations on interpretation in terms of rheological characteristics at all scales accessible from laboratory investigation to field studies are encouraged, with particular interest on fault or crustal mechanics.
