Information - AS2.04 Biosphere-atmosphere exchange of reactive trace gases (co-listed in BG) (co-sponsored by iLEAPS)

Event Information
The biosphere plays a major role in influencing and controlling the release of reactive gases on all scales. There are major uncertainties associated with descriptions of the processes controlling surface-atmosphere trace gas exchange. This limits our ability to predict fluxes that are needed for regional and global chemistry and transport modeling. New methods for measuring trace gas exchange are being developed and applied to help improving our understanding of the magnitude and variability of these fluxes. The session is open to all contributions related to reactive trace gas exchange studies at various spatial and temporal scales ranging from enclosure measurements to turbulent flux measurement and boundary layer profiling techniques. This includes both measurement and modeling tools describing biosphere-atmosphere exchange. Especially welcome are contributions investigating the interaction between reactive carbon and nitrogen trace gases and aerosols within and near vegetation canopies as well as up-scaling of trace gas exchange measurements, and the impact of climate and land use change on reactive trace gas exchange.
