Information - GI1 Open session on Geophysical Instrumentation (co-listed in G, HS, MPRG, OS, SM, NH & VGP)

Event Information
There are two main aims of the GI1 Open Session on Geophysical Instrumentation (GI) – to make acquainted the scientific and engineering geophysical community a) with new instrumentation and b) with new methods or new areas of the existing instruments application. There is no preference to any special branch of geophysics – electromagnetic, seismic, acoustic, gravity etc. – all are equally interesting. Moreover, this session is planned as an open forum where different ideas in GI and methodology of its application can be discussed and mutual exchange of this knowledge could generate the new break-through in the frontier problems of modern geophysics.
Due attention is also foreseen for the transducers of physical quantities, such as, e.g., magnetic field, gravity, fluid parameters etc., into electric signals - sensors and actuators.
Special accent within the session is made at the application of Geophysical Instrumentation for environmental monitoring and security providing. Corresponding examples could be archeological survey, rubbish deposits study, unexploded ordnance and/or mines detection, water dams inspecting, seismic hazards monitoring to name a few.
