Information - ERE1 Wind Power Meteorology

Event Information
Accurately predicting wind resources for wind energy development on- and off-shore is a major challenge due to limited measurements, the complexity of boundary-layer flow and the range of time scales involved. Predictions are required for from hourly to decadal. The session will focus on prediction of wind climates including vertical profile extrapolation from measurement height to turbine hub-height, turbine wake interactions, resource prediction at offshore and coastal wind farms, turbulence, flow in complex terrain, short-term forecasting and the application of new measurement techniques e.g. sodar and satellites. Research results based on modelling and/or measurements are welcome.
