Information - GM2 Aeolian Processes and Landforms (co-listed in CL)

Event Information
The study of sediment transport by wind and the subsequent evolution of surface features and landforms is a dynamic and vibrant field of geomorphological research, with many innovative and interdisciplinary lines of inquiry. Novel instrumentation and new experimental techniques yield unprecedented insights into the physical processes of aeolian sediment transport – be it sand or dust – while numerical modelling, field monitoring, and remote sensing allow us to investigate the evolution and behaviour of ripples and dune landscapes over long time scales. Aeolian geomorphology is conducted in many different science disciplines and this session aims to bring together research results from a variety of approaches and backgrounds to improve our understanding of process and form in aeolian Earth surface systems. Innovative contributions are sought on topics from across the whole spectrum of aeolian geomorphology over the full range of spatial and temporal scales of investigation.
