Information - CR70 Snow dynamics and snow-atmosphere exchange over Greenland and Antarctica (co-listed in AS & CL)
Event Information
The large ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica represent an unique environment for studies of the stable boundary layer, snow-atmosphere exchange processes, snow dynamics and snow chemistry. This session is dedicated to research projects performed over the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica (including ice shelves). We welcome contributions on modeling and observational studies from glaciological, atmospheric, chemistry and remote sensing projects. Investigations of snow dynamics of the dry zone and the exchange of mass, momentum and energy at the snow-atmosphere interface are of particular interest. This includes also tropospheric chemistry and transport processes as well as ice core interpretation. We expect to coordinate this session with session AS2.04 ‘Boundary Layers in High Latitudes: Observations and Modeling’ and with session CR80 ‘Mass and energy balance of snow and ice’.
