Accurately predicting wind resources for wind energy development on- and off-shore is a major challenge due to limited measurements, the complexity of boundary-layer flow and the range of time scales from hourly to decadal. Since wind is also one of the driving mechanism for waves, the 2007 session will focus on both wind and wave energy. In particular we focus on wind and wave forecasting and prediction for renewable energy generation including contribution from EU Coordination Action project ‘Prediction of Waves, Wakes and Offshore Wind’ (POW’WOW). Papers which address methodologies for wind and/or wave assessment and their integration are particularly welcome.
Furthermore, we invite papers on prediction of wind climates, vertical profile extrapolation from measurement height to turbine hub-height, turbine wake interactions, resource prediction at offshore and coastal wind farms, turbulence, flow in complex terrain, short-term forecasting and the application of new measurement techniques e.g. remote sensing. Research results based on modelling and/or measurements are welcome.
