Information - LF2 Experimental Measurements on Icy Materials: Planetary Implications

Event Information
The extent of our knowledge of icy material properties is limited with
respect to the range of composition, temperature, pressure, stresses, or
radiation, which are encountered on planetary bodies and the variety of
processes these materials undergo (e.g., deformation, erosion, radiation,
phase transitions, ...).
Experimental studies for understanding dynamical processes which affect
icy materials are indeed required for many bodies (icy moons, polar caps
on Mars, Pluton/Charon, comets and asteroids, ...). This session will be
dedicated to any experimental results obtained on synthesized icy
materials (pure ices, hydrates, clathrates,...), Earth analogs (regolith,
polar caps, ...), and that aim to reproduce or constrain planetary
phenomena such as impacts, deformation, differentiation, cryovolcanism,
etc.
