Rainfall downscaling in space and time provides a bridge between the scales reliably resolved by meteorological models and those needed for accurate hydrologic and geomorphologic prediction. This session will provide a forum to present new developments on: methods of rainfall downscaling; calibration, parameterization and ensemble validation of downscaling models; physical-statistical connections; role of orography; dynamic downscaling in nested models; and applications.
