Information - CR170/GM1 Subglacial landforms: observations and modelling (co-organised in GM)

Event Information
This thematic session is aimed at bringing together talks focused on
current research concerned with observations and modeling
of subglacial landforms. Such landforms represent widespread and
varied expression of the interactions between ice masses and their
geologic substrata. About 10% of continental area is covered by ice
at the present time and nearly one third was covered during
Pleistocene glacial maxima. Quantitative characterization and
modeling of subglacial landforms represent some of the most exciting
research frontiers in modern glaciology and glacial geomorphology. We
are particularly seeking contributions focused on the following
- What are the geometric characteristics of subglacial landforms on
variety of spatial scales?
- What is the internal structure of subglacial landforms and their
relationship to underlying geologic substrata?
- What is the relationship between ice dynamics, meltwater behavior, and characteristics of subglacial landscapes?
