Information - SSP4 3-d modelling of sedimentary Systems
Event Information
This session addresses two principal ways of modelling sedimentary systems in three dimensions:
a) stratigraphic forward modelling: a tool for understanding the processes behind observed stratal architectures. Applications include quantitative predictions of reservoir and seal distributions away from points constrained by well-data.
b) static reservoir modelling: a tool to reconstruct the 3-D sedimentary and petrophysical architecture of the subsurface, used to calculate fluid volumes, to predict fluid flow and to guide field development.
We seek presentations which include topics such as: the translation of geological processes into meaningful numerical models; case studies for the prediction and/or reconstruction of the 3 D architecture of the subsurface, parameter definition and quantification; analysis and interpretation of model results; limits to predictability arising from non-linear behaviour; the suitability of models for different practical applications.
