Information - SM11 New advances in seismic inversion and imaging (REPSOL-YPF symposia)

Event Information
The aim of this session is to present an overview of the developments of seismic imaging/inversion methods (traveltime tomography, prestack depth migration, full-waveform inversion, active versus passive seismics, etc.) performed over the last decade and to debate on future directions of this research area that will have to take into account the increase of computer power and the evolution of acquisition systems (multicomponent, low frequency sources, dense wide-aperture geometries, 3D geometries). Any kind of application scale will be considered (near surface, crustal, lithospheric, global) provided that applications highlight new advances in seismic imaging and inversion. Both methodological as well as field case studies illustrating new theoretical concepts are welcome.
