  Information - SPM06 HEWG meeting

Event Information
Many key questions of the BepiColombo mission relate to the Hermean environment and many of the scientific issues can be achieved only through collaboration of the teams and by coordinated measurements and data analysis of different instruments, both from MPO and MMO. Consequently, the international teams of these instruments are involved in similar investigations and deal with similar scientific topics; hence, they would improve their studies by exchanging ideas, by setting up collaborations, by sharing appropriate facilities and analysis tools.
The scientific tasks of the Hermean Environment Working Group (see the ESA/BC web page: http://www.rssd.esa.int/index.php?project=BEPICOLOMBO&page=HEWG) are
- to better figure out the complex environment of Mercury;
- to share resources and competences between different teams:
- to identify the possible joint measurements that will enrich our knowledge of the environment;
- to understand the scientific requirements needed to reach the goals;
- to suggest measurement strategies related to the environment of Mercury.
Scope of this meeting is to organize the HEWG structure and to define the future actions.
