Information - AC06 Weather and climate related extremes and risks

Event Information
In the context of natural hazards weather and climate related extremes are
of central importance. From the point of view of a weather and climate
information user the quantitative knowledge of the uncertainty of this
information is pertinent so that the user can assess the risks with
respect to critical threshold values of the process under consideration.
With this in mind papers addressing extreme values and related quantified
risk assessment based on observational and/or model eps (ensemble
prediction system) and/or multi-model data and given in appropriate
probabilistic terms are encouraged for different time scales. Furthermore
considerations of weather and climate related risks as a part of the total
risk assessment to support decision making are welcomed. In all these
studies and this context a genuine and well balanced consideration of the
views of both the weather and climate information supplier and user is
encouraged in our efforts to integrate the weather and climate services to
the needs of the society.
