Information - SSP10 EARTHTIME: Calibrating Earth's history via astronomic, magneto-biostratigraphic and geochronologic timescales

Event Information
This session is planned to bring together stratigraphers, paleontologists and geochronologists interested in quantitative calibration of Earth history. We seek contributions on the application and integration of precise and accurate dating techniques (astronomical, biostratigraphic, paleomagnetic and radioisotopic) for solving problems in earth history. The session is affiliated with EARTHTIME, an international, community-based scientific initiative aimed at sequencing Earth history through the integration of high-precision geochronology and quantitative chronostratigraphy. The goals of EARTHTIME are: the development and integration of the geochronological techniques necessary to produce radioisotopic dates with uncertainties approaching 0.1 percent and the application of these constraints to understanding biological, climatic, and tectonic events/processes in Earth history.
