  Information - AS1.12/ST15 Joint Session of the MLT and the CAWSES program (co-organized by ST)

Event Information
This joint session invites papers that are related to the Climate and
Weather of the Sun-Earth System (CAWSES) program and to coupling
processes in the middle atmosphere in general.
It has become evident in recent years that the terrestrial atmosphere is
influenced by the Sun in a much more complex and significant way than
hitherto anticipated. A better understanding of processes involved is
also important for a comprehensive analysis of anthropogenic changes in
the atmosphere. Therefore, SCOSTEP has initiated the scientific CAWSES
program. One corner stone of CAWSES are coupling processes in the middle
atmosphere such as tides, planetary waves, gravity waves; chemistry;
neutral-ion coupling; and the interaction of the various processes
involved, even if not directly related to solar variability.

Contributions using ground- and space-based measurements, theory and
modeling results are encouraged that focus on aspects of
1. the influence of the Sun on Earth's atmosphere and decadal variations
in the atmosphere at all altitudes
2. coupling processes between the mesosphere and lower thermosphere and
regions below and above
