Tephra studies are an important discipline within the field of volcanology, in particular for research aimed at understanding:
1. Geochemical records of magma chamber and conduit processes
2. Physical mechanism involving magma degassing and fragmentation
3. Plume dispersal and tephra fall
4. Environmental and social-economic impact of tephra fall
5. Aviation hazards during explosive eruptions
6. History and frequency of explosive eruption at active volcanoes
7. Value of tephra layers as a correlation tool in Holocene and Quaternary marine, and lacustrine, and subaerial sedimentary sequences
8. Timing of major geological, climatic, historical event in the past.Contributions on these topics and other related to tephra studies are welcomed.
