Information - NP2.03 Nonlinear Dynamics of the Ocean Circulation (co-listed in OS)

Event Information
A significant part of the variability of the ocean circulation appears
to be governed by low-order, and often nonlinear dynamics. Recent
years have seen a substantial progress in understanding nonlinear
systems like the wind-driven gyre circulation and the thermohaline
circulation.

This session invites contributions that address the nonlinear dynamics
of the ocean circulation from theoretical, numerical, statistical and
observational perspectives. An explicit aim of this session is to
generate a wider appreciation of i) nonlinear aspects of the ocean
circulation, and ii) the tools of the trade, so it is encouraged to
make the presentation accessible to a broad oceanographic audience.

Preliminary List of Solicited Speakers
Henk A. Dijkstra, Andy McC. Hogg.
