In many cases, planetary atmospheres, ionospheres, and magnetospheres and interplanetary space are contaminated by 'dust' and are no longer clean. Accordingly, space physics and aeronomy phenomena are affected by dust And need to be treated with help of dusty plasma physics, which has, however, usually been limited to nearly collisionless plasmas. Conventional theories have to be extended to collisional cases with the advent of new experimental results, including basic processes of electric discharge, ionization, recombination, and beam plasma discharge, as these are related to lower atmospheric lightning, tornadic thunderstorms, and upper atmospheric flashes (aurorae, sprites, elves, blue jets, etc.). The laboratory simulation of these natural phenomena has just started, opening an exciting new research area that offers to provide not only complementary information to the natural phenomena but also a variety of information on basic physical processes such as helicity and vortex generation. This session covers all areas of space physics and aeronomy dealing with dusty plasmas,
luminous discharges, and related laboratory simulations.
