Information - SSP5 Neogene basins of Southern Spain (co-listed in TS)

Event Information
The Neogene basins belonging to the internal zone of the Betic Cordillera are presently well known; not only because of their value as field laboratory for both teaching and research, but also for their relevance with regard to the study of various aspects of the history of the Mediterranean and its satellite basins. In addition, the setting of these moderately sized basins in a tectonically active setting, varying from transtensional to compressional, enables the study of stress patterns and ways and origins of sediment input and dispersal. The goal of this session is to assemble as many as possible workers in this region in order to share and discuss new ideas in this multidisciplinary forum. Therefore contributions concerning the Neogene basin-fill, its biota or its deformation are welcome.
