This session is concerned with the nonlinear dynamics of jets, Wakes and vortices with applications to the Earth's oceans and planetary atmospheres. Jets and vortices can be considered as the coherent structures in quasi two-dimensional flows that occur in confined flows such as in thin films, rotating and/or stratified fluids. Topics that
will be dealt with are the dynamics of fronts, coherent vortex structures, their mutual interaction as well as their interaction with internal and inertial waves. Numerical, theoretical as well as experimental contributions are welcome.
