  Information - IS16 - GM3.1/CR16 Glacial landscape evolution and paleoglaciological reconstructions (co-organised by GM & CR)

Event Information
This session will bring together researchers in the fields of contemporary glacial processes, glacial/cold-climate geomorphology and palaeoglaciological reconstruction to highlight and discuss recent advances, pressing research questions and state-of-the-art techniques in understanding the role of valley and ice sheet glaciation in landscape evolution and global change. Potential contributions could comprise: field studies, laboratory-based experiments or numerical simulations of the processes and patterns of glacial erosion, sediment transport and/or deposition; quantitative studies of rates and patterns of glacial or postglacial landscape evolution from thermochronometers, terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides, digital elevation datasets or numerical models; geomorphological, sedimentological, terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide and/or luminescence-based field investigations or numerical simulations of the geomorphological signature of glacier, ice sheet or cold-climate processes. Contributions that relate process-scale studies to long-term landscape evolution and/or inverse procedures that deduce the large spatial scale properties of glaciers and ice sheets are particularly encouraged.
