Information - OS3 Open Session on Ocean Tracers and Chemistry

Event Information
The interpretation of tracer distributions in the ocean is an important
tool to understand the formation and spreading of water masses as well
as their variability. The enormous increase of tracer observations
during the WOCE period opened many opportunities for the use of tracers
in regional and large scale models to be compared to observations.
Contributions to this session are welcome in any area related to tracer
observations and modeling of tracers. The session objectives are to
report on:

-- tracer-based estimates of ocean processes from observations and
models (for example, water mass formation, spreading, mixing, upwelling)
-- the use of tracers in regional or global models and the comparison to
observations
-- developments in theory to understand tracer age and how tracer data
constrain estimates of water mass transport.
