Information - CR135 Modelling sea ice and ice-ocean interactions (co-listed in OS)
Event Information
The dramatic changes that the Arctic sea ice is undergoing are indicative of the high sensitivity of sea ice to climatic changes. Improving sea ice models and the representation of sea ice and sea ice-related processes in regional and global ocean climate models is hence more than ever a pressing necessity. In this session, we invite contributions from the sea ice and climate modelling communities regarding all aspects of sea ice modelling. Presentations and posters on modelling of snow and ice thermodynamics and dynamics, ice-atmosphere and ice-ocean interactions, ice biogeochemical processes and data assimilation in sea-ice models will be considered. Aware of the important role of chemical and biological processes in shaping the polar ocean environment and the growing need of including such processes in current models, we would like to encourage participation in this session of sea ice biology and chemistry modellers, whose contributions are welcome.
