The session aims to address persons/organisations active in research which have contacts in the whole national territory with the organisations in charge of risk reduction, and not only with international partners and academia. An emphasis will lay on testing models on real cases, to discuss with local authorities about including the results achieved in an emergency plan or in a urban plan, to look at the predictions of models from a practical point of view, to discuss with and get suggestion from local civil protections, urban planners, etc.
Aspects to be covered by the session include but are not limited to:
1. investigate the urban morphology to get better estimates of building vulnerability (interaction among close buildings, influence of the building location within the historical centre, ...)
2. investigate the urban morphology to evaluate the post-disaster accessibility of relevant buildings from outside or from strategic buildings
3. investigate the urban morphology to evaluate the number and location of SAR teams.
4. investigate the traffic demand due to emergency vehicles (SAR, injured, food assistance, etc).
5. look at the statistical significance of the urban setting in the post-disaster observed damage, and ways to collect/ensure access to data (why many villages have been completely evacuated in the past?)
6. multi-hazard and multi-criteria urban planning proposals
7. develop and implement an urban score model for comparison of risk based also on morphology, urban settings, etc.
