Information - ST20 Coupling between the middle atmosphere and thermosphere/ionosphere on Earth and other planets or moons (co-listed in PS)

Event Information
This session invites papers discussing dynamics, composition and structure of the terrestrial MLT region as well as equivalent regions on other solar system bodies, using ground- and space-based measurement, theory and modelling results. Potential topics include discussions of thermal structure, the heat sources and sinks; the response to tides, planetary waves and gravity waves, including aspects such as wave-wave and wave-background atmosphere interactions; dynamical effects on minor species distributions and emission variations; neutral and ionized metallic layering phenomena; chemical effects of particle precipitation; laboratory measurement of aeronomical rate constants; dynamo and electrojet studies; coupling between the MLT region and the ionosphere. Speakers are encouraged to compare different planets as far as possible. One aim of this session is to encourage cross-discipline dialogue and exchange of ideas and experience.
