  Information - IP01 Bringing Meteorology closer to Society

Event Information
The importance of providing general public with timely and specified
information on current meteorological events and phenomena, especially
extreme ones, on recent scientific results and achievements in
meteorological science and its applications, requires continuous efforts
by the meteorological community. The EU and international (WMO) policy
and respective initiatives provide basic guidance for what has to be
done in this regard.

Present good practices and ideas for new ones on ways to raise public
awareness, to increase the understanding of, and to assist users in
dealing with diverse issues related to weather and climate will be
discussed within the session. Submissions are invited on, but not
limited to, matters like role and tasks of scientists and other
professional communicators; education and training in communication of
Meteorology. Contributions from the meteorological community -
scientists, project managers and administrators, as well as from press
and public relation officers, publishers and others are welcome.
