This session is positioned at the interface between Statistics and Climatology. To have any success chances, the analysis of climate time series has to take into account the uncertainties in measurements, proxy quality and dating. Especially paleoclimate records impose thereby notorious difficulties in form of non-normal distributions, autocorrelation and uneven spacing.
We welcome contributions that both demonstrate a sound basis of the presented methodology and show the feasibility of the method in real-world applications. Methods may include, but are not restricted to, the following: regression, correlation, spectral analysis, wavelets and extreme value analysis.
This session serves also as a platform for information exchange on software tools for climate time series analysis.
Solicited speaker: Pascal Yiou (Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement, Gif-sur-Yvette, France).
