Information - GMPV5 Advances in the knowledge of the magmatic and eruptive history of European active volcanoes
Event Information
Since the concentrated efforts of the EU supported program on European Laboratory volcanoes, much progress has been reached both in the general understanding of the volcanic systems of the active or potentially active European volcanoes, and in the broad aspects of hazard evaluation and mitigation. Important eruptive phenomena and unrest episodes have occurred and were analyzed in detail during the past years. This session focuses on all aspects of the volcanic history, on physical and chemical properties of magmas, on the structural relationships and the magmatic evolution of active volcanoes. The main goal of the session will be to offer a forum for the synthesis of the different aspects of volcanic behavior relevant to the understanding how volcanoes work.
