Information - PS8 Planetary, Solar and Heliospheric Radio Emissions

Event Information
Main goal of this session is to discuss recent developments in the study of non-thermal radio emission of the Sun, the five radio planets, the heliosphere, and from extra-solar planets. Special interest is given to observations and interpretations of radio and plasma wave phenomena in particular those observed by STEREO SWAVES and Cassini’s RPWS experiments. Further analyses of forthcoming (e.g. Solar Orbiter, JUNO), present (e.g. Ulysses, Wind) and previous (e.g. Galileo) observations are also encouraged. Key topics also comprise solar radiophysics researches, particularly in view of the International Heliophysical Year (IHY). Theoretical modelling, as well as physics phenomena, is recommended in particular for the comparative studies between magnetized planets, or between the Sun and the planets. Also new development in the field of ground-based giant radio telescopes (e.g. LOFAR, FASR) are encouraged with main emphasis on, one side, the development of new generation of radio reception system (antenna and instruments), and on other side the applied methods towards a synergy between space and ground-based stereoscopic observations.
