Information - OS8 Mixing in Overflows and Large-Scale Consequences for Ocean Circulation and Climate (co-listed in CL)

Event Information
This session will focus on mixing at overflows and downslope flows, and the impact of this overflow mixing on the large scale ocean stratification and circulation, and hence upon climate. Observational, laboratory and process studies of the details of the mixing are welcomed. Also welcomed are large-scale modelling studies of the impact that different mixing parameterizations, bottom boundary layer models, treatments of topography, and different model types have upon the overflow mixing and consequently the large scale circulation.
