External Courses are organized by third parties and open for the participants of the EGU General Assembly.

EC1 – ExxonMobil Short Course – 18th and 19th April 2009
"Multi-Interdisciplinary Subsurface Integration in Exploration and Production" From "Plates to Pores..."

 

ExxonMobil is conducting a two day short course entitled "Multi-Interdisciplinary Subsurface Integration in Exploration and Production" From "Plates to Pores..." prior to the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) on 18th and 19th April 2009. It is designed to teach students the fundamentals of seismic theory and integrated interpretation. The course will consist of lectures and practical exercises. On completion of the course, participants will understand the integration of geophysical processes and seismic interpretation techniques, allowing them to predict the best areas for hydrocarbon accumulations.

The course will be taught by technical experts from ExxonMobil.

Sessions on both days will take place between 09:00 and 17:30 (venue to be confirmed). The course is only open to geoscience students and is free of charge. Places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis. To book your place, please send your CV and contact details to Sue Nicholson as soon as possible.

 

EC2 – Ethics in Geosciences with Special Emphasis on Oil Industries

 

We would go through the politics and ethics of the companies, and will shed some light onto their engangement in science in particular. There is the hypothesis, that the politics of disinformation about climate change of these companies undermine the scientific progress and work.
