  Information - NH1.04 Precipitation Science (co-listed in AS) (including Sergey Soloviev Medal Lecture)

Event Information
We expect that this session will last one day, consisting of 5 sub-sessions with each sub-session assigned to one time block. Thus, the session would consist of 25 oral presentations and about 75 poster presentations. The conference convener and co-conveners will solicit key-note speakers for 30-minute talks for each of the five sub-sessions.
The five sub-sessions will focus on scientific themes and technical issues in both observational and modeling research concerning precipitation properties, precipitation processes, precipitation trends and variations, and the nature of hazardous precipitating storms – in the context of the international Global Precipitation Measurement and Global Water Cycle programmes. The observational focus will be on remote sensing but not restricted to remote sensing. The five sub-sessions are to be identified as follows: (1) Remotely-Sensed Precipitation and Water Cycle Measurements – Current and Future, (2) Role of Precipitation in Hydrometeorology, (3) Precipitation and Water Cycle Processes in Climate System, (4) Physical Processes and Properties of Hazardous Precipitating Storms, and (5) Modeling and Data Assimilation of Precipitation for Weather, Climatic, and Hydrologic Simulations.
