Information - NH3.05 Improvements in mitigation measures against landslides and debris flows
Event Information
Looking through the proceedings of past conferences dealing with natural hazards there have been always just a few contributions about the topic "mitigation measures". Therefore it seems to be necessary to impart the information about the experiences with existing as well as to present the improvements with new mitigation measures against landslides and debris flows. Beyond all doubt the session should attract scientists as well as practitioners. Especially in the field of landslides and debris flows mitigation a dynamic development has taken place in the Alpine countries in the near past enclosing scientific and engineering methods (strategies) in the sense of an integrated risk management.
Within the session all kinds of active, passive, structural, non structural and organisational measures should be concerned. The emphasis lies on the lessons learned, the numerical and physical modelling and in the strategies for risk management concering landslides and debris flow. Special attention should be laid on the topic early warning systems and integrated protection concepts.
