Information - SSS14 Effects of redox changes in the chemistry and mobility of trace elements in soils and sediments (co-listed in BG, GMPV & HS)

Event Information
Redox conditions in soils and sediments may have a profound influence on the mobility of some trace elements. Temporal and spatial variations in plant availability and in the surface and ground water concentrations of both toxic and nutrient metals may result. Seasonal changes and management practice both contribute to these variations. Rather few data are published on this subject, partly because of the inherent experimental difficulties.

After the success of the session organised during EGU-2005, it was decided that another opportunity was needed to continue the exchange of ideas on this challenging subject. This session of the EGU should attract soil scientists, geochemists, microbiologists and hydrologists and report both experimental and modelling approaches to the topic.
