Information - HS10.3 Catchment structure and connectivity - observations, analysis and modelling (co-listed in BG, GM & SSS)

Event Information
It is now well established that the spatial patterns of many hydrologically relevant catchment properties, such as slope gradient, connectivity, or soil hydraulic properties often are related to each other and have both random and highly organized components, and that these patterns are significant for (the spatial patterns of) stream flow variables (runoff, temperature etc.). However, there is still a clear research need for an improved characterization and understanding of these spatial patterns as this is pivotal for successful hydrological prediction.

This session invites papers reporting on recent progress focusing on:
- posterior pattern characterization, such as geostatistics, DEM or catena analysis, hydrological response unit mapping, and connectivity measures.
- prior pattern understanding, such as self-organization, (eco-pedo-geomorphic) landscape evolution, optimality or other organizational principles.
- interrelationships between spatial and temporal variability, such as irregular supports (runoff), intermittency problems (precipitation), non-linear aggregation (hydraulic conductivity)
