  Information - G3/GD14 What constraints does geodesy at global scales put on the dynamical processes of the Earth (co-organized by GD)

Event Information
The dynamical processes inside the Earth affect its shape, orientation
and gravity field, from local to global scales. For instance,
earthquakes may change the geometry of the station network, as well as
redistribute the Earth mass, resulting in both the variation of the
gravity field and an impact on Earth rotation. For many years, these
observables have been monitored by geodetic instrumentation with very
high precision. The geodetic measurements can be used to better
understand the impact upon the planet including interactions with the
deep Earth and with the interior and surface geophysical fluids. They
can also be used to constrain models of internal processes or properties
of the Earth. In this session, we welcome papers dealing with what can
be learned from geodesy at global scale (Earth rotation, geocenter
motion, low degree deformation and gravity field) on the dynamics of the
whole Earth system and how those geodetic observations can be used,
alone or in combination with other geophysical observations, to help us
to understand and model Earth processes.
